History

17 years before the Treaty of Coruscant
Born.

12 years before the Treaty of Coruscant
Force sensitivity discovered. Tor's family is very poor and can't afford to send him to the Jedi for training.

9 years before the Treaty of Coruscant
Having lived in an extremely rough part of town, his parents were killed coming home one evening, when a skirmish between rival gangs erupted on the streets. Not knowing where else to go or what to do, he sells everything he has in order to pay for travel to Coruscant, and seek out the Jedi in hopes of developing his power in the force.

5 years before the Treaty of Coruscant
Though turning out to be generously powerful and extremely well versed at healing through the force, over time he begins to feel like the Jedi are holding him back. After a final tirade - and following numerous heated debates with his instructors at the Jedi Academy over philosophy and politics - Tor'a abandons the Jedi and strikes out on his own in the galaxy. Times are rough and so are the crowds he floats with. He finds work in a shady cantina in the lower levels of Coruscant, named the Dirty Bothan.

"The D.B. - a notoriously rough, yet inconspicuous smugglers paradise of a place. NOT FOR TOURISTS!" - Coruscant Nightlife Holozine

2 years before the Treaty of Coruscant
Through working in the cantina, Tor discovers his lust for gambling. With young luck and the force at his side, he begins to find himself very lucky, in fact, a little too lucky for some folks' liking. Before any storms could coalesce and actually head his way, he smooth talks a D.B. regular into joining his crew aboard the Busty Hapan.

1 year before the Treaty of Coruscant
Files for membership with the Smuggler's Guild and promoted to Co-Pilot of the Busty Hapan.

2 years after the Treaty of Coruscant
Tor'a takes command and ownership of the Busty Hapan after a botched job involving the death of his Captain. While fleeing to safety, Tor'a reveals him self as a force-user, healing the injured members of the crew. Unfortunately he was not able to save the Captain's life.

4 years after the Treaty of Coruscant
After revealing himself in as a force-user to his crewmembers - word travels fast through the Smuggler's Guild - Tor'a finds himself on a second botched job and in the custody of a Jedi Master and two Knights. During the flight he learns that the Smuggler's Guild sold him out to the Jedi, both times. His rage and frustration was like a dark beacon in the force. The ship the Jedi were transporting him in was ambushed immediately after dropping out of hyperspace. A mysterious pureblood named Darth Xiphir frees Tor'a and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

"A Jedi Master and two Knights found brutally slain along with crew aboard a heavily armed criminal transport vessel drifting around Coruscant's outer orbit for the last 37 hours like a tomb before being discovered. All suspected criminals are considered escaped and on the loose." - Coruscanti Chronicle

6 years after the Treaty of Coruscant
Secretly promoted to Darth Xiphir's apprentice. Xiphir was the first person Tor ever met who he felt could understand and connect with him. Xiphir had been travelling the galaxy for five years guided by the force, looking for someone he'd never known, but knew Tor'a would have a strong impact on his destiny. Xiphir was a seer, one known for strong visions through he force. Xiphir interpreted his visions thinking that Tor'a would be the key to his master plan, and immediately took to training him in the ways of the Sith. They ended up with a loose teacher student friendship, Xiphir earning Tor's trust and loyalty. Tor'a has the feeling of being used, and doesn't like it at all, but he withstands it for the tradeoff in power that he is gaining each and every day.

8 years after the Treaty of Coruscant
Xiphir's guild, the Crimson Kinrath - after much lobbying and favors on Xiphir's part - were awarded a special operation over other deserving guilds, which they were very unhappy about. The mission turned out to be sabotaged, salvaged only by the fact that Tor'a was able to revive his senior officer long enough to remember a password to the vault they were sent to. While getting the password from his temporarily revived officer, who was in total shock, Tor'a also learned a few secrets about Xiphir that he wish he hadn't. Xiphir was carefully planning the assasination of the Dark Council and the replacement of the Emperor. That he could deal with, in a way, aren't we all looking for more power? The thing that rocked him the most was being told that Xiphir now feared Tor, and was begining to re-evaluate his visions, seeming to now think that Tor'a would cause his death before he reach his true destiny.

9 years after the Treaty of Coruscant
Over the last year Tor had been training veraciously, and Xiphir plotting even harder. Ever since the day his dying Crimson Kinrath officer told him Xiphir's plans and fears, Tor'a had been steeling himself for the day he would have to protect himself from his Master's treachery. Tor'a was given a new and unique mission. He was to go undercover to a criminal slave colony, which in a few months would be visited by very special Imperial fleet that was combing its' slave pens for force sensitives; Tor would be identified easily and chosen. After another month or two worth of stops and inspections they would then arrive on Korriban to begin training.

Tor'a figured the training all over again part sounded about as fun as washing a fleet of crusty Banthas after a trek across Tattooine, and also figured he might learn some new tricks or end up dead due to a Xiphir set-up. Unfortunately, he really had no other options than to keep going where the force nudged.

As Tor'a turned to leave the room, Xiphir smoothly said "Oh, there's one more thing, my apprentice...I will need you to leave your lightsaber with me while you are away on this mission."

Tor came to a halt, turned around confused and ready to defend or strike, then comprehending dawned, "Ah, of course...a slave. A slave wouldn't have a lightsaber."

"Always the smartest of the bunch Tor." Xiphir chided, then followed up silkily, "And that's why there are so many reasons to send you."

Tor'a knew then that he was being discarded, striped of his lightsaber as well, left at too big a disadvantage to even try attacking Xiphir here and now. He would have to play this out, the force gave no warnings or feelings of death in the immediate future; a skill he had learned recently from Xiphir. He stared into Xiphir's eyes a few more seconds to show he was unaffraid, then turned on his heel and marched out exclaiming jauntily, "make sure to keep it warm for me my Lord, I WILL be back for it."

Xiphir watched Tor'a stride off down the walkway and around the corner out of his presence. He then closed his eyes looking deep into the force, using Tor's lightsaber as a talisman, giving him a boost in focusing on a single person. What he saw wrenched him out of his vision, Xiphir gasped. As he rolled Tor's lightsaber back and forth from one hand to another, Xiphir muttered under his breath, "I might be the one who needs it more than you, IF you come back."
